An exciting contract opportunity is available for an experienced LIMS Consultant to support the evaluation and recommendation of a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) for a newly constructed bioprocess laboratory in the EU. This project is focused on enabling digital lab operations, ensuring regulatory alignment, and strengthening data traceability through the right technology solution.

The laboratory is at the early stages of setup, and the goal of this contract is to assess two existing LIMS platforms already in use across the organisation and recommend the most suitable system for the bioprocess lab in Europe. This is a strategic and hands-on role that will involve engaging with stakeholders across regions and delivering a clear, evidence-based recommendation.

This position is fully remote (EU-based) and will suit a freelance consultant with a strong track record in LIMS selection and validation, ideally within a life sciences or bioprocessing context.

Your role as Consultant - LIMS Evaluation and Recommendation:

  • Lead stakeholder workshops and interviews to define business, technical, and compliance needs.

  • Assess the suitability of two existing LIMS platforms in relation to lab workflows and digitalisation goals.

  • Compare total cost of ownership, implementation complexity, and integration needs across both systems.

  • Evaluate regulatory and validation considerations, with attention to GxP and 21 CFR Part 11 standards.

  • Produce a structured evaluation report outlining key findings, risks, and recommendations.

  • Maintain clear communication with project stakeholders throughout the assignment.

Experience and qualifications for the Consultant - LIMS Evaluation and Recommendation role:

  • Proven experience assessing, selecting, and implementing LIMS in life sciences or bioprocessing environments.

  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks, including GxP and 21 CFR Part 11, and associated validation processes.

  • Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills.

  • Confident facilitating discussions with diverse technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Fluent in English; German language skills are a bonus.

  • Must have own equipment and be available 3-5 days/week.
