A global life sciences business is seeking a Temporary Customs & Trade Regulations Expert to provide specialist support across UK and Irish import/export operations. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the rollout of a global trade compliance programme, working across multiple internal teams and international partners.
The successful contractor will play a key role in driving post-Brexit standardisation and ensuring full compliance with evolving customs and trade laws. Your role as Temporary Customs & Trade Regulations Expert
Act as the lead point of contact for UK and Irish trade compliance, supporting cross-functional teams and external customs brokers.
Standardise and document post-Brexit customs processes and internal control procedures.
Support the ongoing implementation of a global trade compliance programme, liaising with international colleagues.
Identify and mitigate customs duty exposure and ensure proactive compliance with new and emerging obligations.
Respond to audits and government queries, coordinating locally as needed.
Sustain the company's Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) certification and manage local clearance issues.
Experience and qualifications for the Temporary Customs & Trade Regulations Expert role
Strong knowledge of international trade, UK/EU customs regulations, and compliance procedures including tariff classification, valuation, and origin.
Previous experience working with customs platforms and authorisations (e.g. CHIEF, TSS, ROS, EIDR, SDP) is preferred.
Comfortable managing customs brokers and control towers within a complex supply chain.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and familiar with ERP systems (ideally JD Edwards).
Highly organised, able to prioritise and independently manage workload in a global matrix environment.
Fluent in professional English; additional languages are an advantage.
