Your role as Formulation Engineer / Research Associate

  • Lead formulation development for laundry and dishwashing care applications using novel silk-based proteins

  • Design and execute frame formulations and proof-of-concept studies to demonstrate tangible consumer benefits

  • Ensure compatibility and seamless integration of protein formulations within customers' existing production processes

  • Investigate how proteins interact with other formulation components to optimise stability and product performance

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Application Engineering, Product Development, Biotech R&D) to align with commercial and scale-up goals

  • Stay abreast of trends in the sustainable cleaning sector and emerging technologies to inform innovation strategy

  • Provide regulatory support, ensuring formulation compliance with EU and international standards (REACH, EPA, EU Ecolabel)


Experience and qualifications for the Formulation Engineer / Research Associate role

  • Degree in Chemistry, Biotechnology or related field (Bachelor's required; Master's preferred)

  • 5+ years of experience developing laundry or dishwashing care products-experience with a raw material or ingredient supplier is advantageous

  • Solid foundation in protein and polymer chemistry, especially in protein-based formulations

  • Familiarity with surfactants, enzymes, builders and other key ingredients used in household care products

  • Strong problem-solving skills in formulation stability, ingredient interactions, and product efficacy

  • Excellent communication skills with an ability to translate technical findings to both internal stakeholders and external partners

  • Collaborative mindset with a hands-on approach and the ability to work across multiple functions
