Your role as Legal Counsel - Innovation

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of legal agreements including clinical trial, research collaboration, licensing, and vendor contracts

  • Provide legal support for scientific and clinical research projects, ensuring risk mitigation and regulatory compliance

  • Advise stakeholders on the legal risks and implications of business decisions, particularly those involving product development and research activities

  • Conduct legal reviews of scientific publications, research materials, and internal documentation related to innovation

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams across IP, regulatory, commercial, and litigation functions to support end-to-end legal needs

  • Offer timely, pragmatic legal advice to support R&D objectives, balancing scientific ambition with legal rigour

  • Stay up to date on legal developments, benchmarks, and best practices in healthcare, life sciences, and clinical research

Experience and qualifications for the Legal Counsel - Innovation role

  • Qualified lawyer (Juris Doctor or equivalent) with a license to practice law

  • Minimum 7 years' legal experience within life sciences, healthcare, or biotechnology, ideally combining law firm and in-house roles

  • Proven ability to advise on complex legal issues in R&D environments, including clinical trials and regulatory matters

  • Experience managing multiple projects with competing deadlines in a fast-paced, commercially focused setting

  • Skilled in reviewing and negotiating complex legal documents with scientific and commercial relevance

  • Strong grasp of healthcare compliance and relevant regulatory frameworks

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to advise senior stakeholders clearly and confidently

  • Comfortable collaborating across departments and building consensus in a cross-functional environment

  • High level of personal integrity and professionalism, with a proactive and solutions-oriented approach
